Aamir Siddiqi Murder Facebook Appeal
South Wales Police investigating the murder of Aamir Siddiqi in Roath, Cardiff, are utilising the social networking site Facebook to appeal to potential witnesses.
Seventeen-year-old Aamir suffered multiple stab wounds at his family’s home in Ninian Road on Sunday after being attacked by two men.
His parents, aged 55 and 68, also suffered serious injuries during the attack but were subsequently discharged from hospital following treatment.
Police are continuing to appeal to anyone with information about the incident to come forward and have now posted their appeals on Facebook.
A video of a press conference held on Tuesday which contained appeals by Aamir’s family both in English and Urdu have also been posted on the website YouTube.
Divisional Commander for Cardiff, Chief Superintendent Bob Tooby, said: "We know that Aamir was a user of Facebook and there have been hundreds of tributes and messages left by his many friends, fellow students and general members of the public who have been touched by his tragic death.
"Facebook is a very powerful communication tool, especially among younger people, which we are utilising to push our appeals to as wide an audience as possible."
He continued: "Aamir’s family made an emotional appeal for the public to help find his killer which we have posted on the internet video site YouTube, again with the aim of reaching as many people as possible.
"I would like to thank the public for the excellent response we have received to our appeals so far and I would encourage anyone with information to come forward and contact the police as a matter of urgency."
Police still wish to trace two men who were seen leaving the area shortly after the incident and heading towards Shirley Road.
Male one is described as being of Asian appearance, aged late 20s, of average height, stocky build. He had dark hair and was wearing dark clothing.
The second male is described as being of Asian appearance, aged early 20s, of slim build, 5ft 11ins in height. He was wearing a white jacket with a grey stripe down the sleeves.
As they were leaving the area they were seen to be pulling black-knitted balaclavas over their faces.
