Returning Soldiers Honoured
Afghanistan veterans have been officially recognised.
Members of C Squadron of the Household Cavalry Regiment were last Friday presented with their Afghanistan Operational Service Medals.
C Squadron were deployed to Afghanistan from September 2009 to April 2010 and during their six-month tour the unit was based in the northern Helmand town of Musa Qal'ah.
Their main role was providing a mobile force which helped with general security, such as keeping the Taliban out of safe areas and increasing the area under Afghan security control.
They received their Operational Service Medals from Major General Barney White-Spunner, a former commander of the regiment, at Combermere Barracks, Windsor.
During the ceremony the soldiers also laid a wreath at the Windsor Memorial for Lance Corporal of Horse Jonathan Woodgate, a member of the Household Cavalry Regiment's B Squadron who was killed recently in Afghanistan.
