Huge Oldham Cannabis Seizure Revealed

More than 3,300 cannabis plants, worth around £500,000, have been seized by police in Oldham.

Police went to a house on Rochdale Road, Royton around 2.50pm last Thursday, when a total of 2492 plants were recovered along with a large amount of cash. A BMW was also seized.

A house on Penryn Avenue, Royton was also searched where a further 480 plants were found along with Class A and Class B drugs.

Another 418 plants were found at a house on Windermere Road, Middleton.

Two men aged 42 and 47 have been arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis and abstracting electricity. They both remain in police custody for questioning.

Sergeant Rob Howarth of Oldham division said: "This is an incredible result for the CannabisOldham communities as we have managed to take a huge amount of cannabis out of circulation.

"The set-up was quite professional, with a number of different strands of cannabis being grown, including one called 'blueberry', which isn't something we generally see much of in the Oldham area.

"We will always act on information provided to us by the public, so if anyone knows about the production of cannabis in the area, then please get in touch. Help us to rid the streets of drugs and the people who peddle them."
