£150k Fife Heroin Haul
Heroin valued at over £150,000 has been seized in Fife as part of an intelligence led operation by police.
Raids undertaken by Fife Constabulary's Force Drugs Squad during the Easter weekend resulted in significant quantities of the Class A drug being recovered.
Two people have also been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
On 2 April, officers apprehended a 33-year-old man who had been travelling in a car on the A90 near to Inverkeithing. He was found to be in possession of a ½ kilo of heroin with an estimated street value of £50,000.
On 3 April, officers apprehended a 42-year-old man as he alighted from a train at Inverkeithing Railway Station. He was found to be in possession of 1 kilo of heroin with an estimated street value of £100,000.
Fife Constabulary's Head of Crime Management, Detective Superintendent Garry McEwan said: "Tackling Drugs and Serious Organised Crime is a very high priority for Fife Constabulary. These latest arrests send out a strong message to drug dealers and others involved in this type of criminality that we are fully committed to using all available resources to target, disrupt and detect those most intent on causing significant harm to our communities."
He continued: "The drugs operations conducted over the Easter holiday weekend period form an integral part of the Force's ongoing commitment to the delivery of the priorities identified within the Force Policing Plan.
"On this occasion, not only have we removed £150,000 street deals of heroin from the streets of Fife but we have also specifically targeted criminals intent on utilising our roads and public transport networks to attempt to bring drugs into Fife."
DS McEwan added: "Let this be a warning to those involved in the supply of drugs within our communities - your criminal activities will not be tolerated. This seizure is further evidence of what can be achieved when working closely with Fife's communities."
