'Nasty' Attack On Cosham Teen

Police are appealing for witnesses to an unprovoked assault on a teenage boy in Cosham on Saturday.

The 13-year-old was with two girls outside Cosham Park, on Portsmouth Road, between 6.30pm and 7pm when they were approached by a man and two women.

The man punched the boy in the face causing a swollen eye and split lip.

The victim was treated at the scene but later that evening became disorientated and was taken to the Queen Alexandra Hospital, police said.

He suffered a broken nose and cuts and swelling to his face and mouth.

His attacker is described as a white man, approximately 18-years-old, six foot tall, of skinny but muscular build and wearing a cream jacket with long arms, a checked scarf and a dark baseball cap.

One of the women in his company is described as white, approximately 5ft 5ins tall of medium build, with long, dark hair in a pony tail and wearing a purple hooded top.

PC Sabrina West from Fratton police station said: "This was a nasty assault which was totally unprovoked and unnecessary.

"The victim is of a particularly young age and is shocked by what happened. His parents are outraged and would like anyone involved in the incident to come forward and provide a name of the man responsible."

She added: "I am appealing for the man himself to come and hand himself in to the police. We’d also like to hear from the women in his company who will hopefully be able to tell us who he is."
