Two Arrested In Luton Drugs Raid
Two people were arrested by Bedfordshire Police after a dawn raid at a property in Selbourne Road, Luton at the weekend.
The raid involved members of Luton’s Intelligence Team and supported by members of the Safer Neighbourhood Team and officers from the Tasking Unit, based at Luton Police Station.
Two men, aged 21 and 18, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply and are being questioned by officers.
A substantial amount of what is thought to be crack cocaine, an imitation pump action shot gun, knuckle dusters and mobile telephones together with cash were seized during the raid.
These have now been sent away for forensic analysis, police said.
Detective Constable Craig Gurr, who led the operation, said: "Bedfordshire Police has a zero tolerance approach to any form of illegal drug activity.
"This operation has taken place after we have listened to local concerns and spoken with community members and I hope this action demonstrates that the police will use the confidential information they relay to us in a positive way and is committed to working in partnership with them to make Luton a safer place to live, work and socialise."
He added: "It is important to the police that we keep the communication channels open between all members of the different communities who live within Luton to ensure we have a greater understanding of their needs."
