False Murder Alibi Woman Jailed
A Liverpool woman has been sent to prison for giving a false alibi to protect her murderer boyfriend.
Nikita Murray, 21, of Langsdale Street in Everton, was sentenced to two years, eight months in prison for giving a false alibi for Scott Walker, who was found guilty of killing Tony Bromley last year.
Mr Bromley, 18, was found stabbed to death at a house in Sprucewood Close in Tuebrook last February.
Tony Bromley's father, George Bromley, was shot dead at a house in Valescourt Road, West Derby, on 18 November 1997.
Denis Gilboy, of Whitehaven Road, Anfield and Scott Walker, of Whitefield Way in Anfield, were both sentenced to life imprisonment last November for the murder of Tony Bromley.
Ms Murray was found guilty of perverting the course of justice at Liverpool Crown Court on 25 February.
Det Chief Insp Karen Cummings, who was in charge of the investigation into the murder of Tony Bromley, said: "This sentence should send out a clear message to the friends and families of offenders that they should not try to protect them from the consequences of their crimes.
"The police and the courts take a very serious view of people who try and protect offenders from justice. It doesn't matter what their motives are, they could face jail themselves for what they do."
