Man Critical After Assault

Police in Bloxwich have closed a number of roads following a serious assault.

The incident occurred just before 12.30am this morning outside Anchor Inn public house in Chester Road, Brownhills, Walsall.

A man aged 44 was taken to hospital. Police said he remains in hospital in a "critical condition".

"A man has been arrested and is currently in custody helping police with their inquiries," a police spokesman said,

A number of roads have been closed: High Street to Chester Road has been closed from the junction at Ogley Road to the junction with Friezland Lane.

Lindon Road is also closed from the junction with Chester Road to the junction with Harley Close.

Fatal Shooting In North London
A man has been killed in a shooting in north London this morning. The victim, in his fifties, was blasted several times on the A41 Cricklewood at around 8.30am. No arrests have been made. The A41, one of London's busiest roads has been closed in both directions.

Employees Return To Work Following Explosives Discovery
Construction workers have returned to work on the new Queensferry Crossing site after the discovery of explosive materials during roadworks. Workers discovered demolition materials at 5pm on Wednesday during utility diversion works around the north approach roads close to the Crossing.

School bus carrying 30 children crashes
A group of 30 schoolchildren have been involved in a collision involving their school bus in Hartlepool. The incident happened just after 3:30pm on Wednesday afternoon. Three vehicles were involved in the crash - the school bus, a mini-bus and a Renault Megane Scenic.
