Arrests Follow Man's Disappearance

Two people have been arrested in connection with the disappearance and likely murder of a man who went missing ten years ago.

Alan James Crabtree, 41, was reported missing from his home address in Tong Street, Bradford in September 2000.

Mr Crabtree's disappearance has remained a mystery for the last ten years.

Detective Superintendent Dave Pervin, who is now leading the investigation into Mr Crabtree's disappearance, said he believed Mr Crabtree had travelled from his home in Bradford to Keighley on 13 September 2000.

It is thought he visited an address on Alice Street. Since that date there have been no other confirmed sightings of him and a body has never been found.

Yesterday, officers from West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET) travelled to Margate in Kent where they arrested a 38-year-old man and a woman, 37, on suspicion of the murder of Mr Crabtree.

It is believed that both of those arrested were living in the Bradford District at the time of Mr Crabtree's disappearance. They are now being interviewed by detectives.
