Landowner Convicted Of Killing Wife

A Gloucestershire landowner was today found guilty of murdering his estranged wife, whose body has never been found.

Adrian Prout, 47, had denied murdering his 55-year-old wife Kate, he is now expected to be handed down a life sentence following a three week trial.

Prout, of Redmarley, Gloucestershire, will appear at Bristol Crown Court on Monday to hear his punishment.

Mrs Prout disappeared in November 2007, after asking her husband for a divorce.

Prout - who has since started a new family - did not display any emotion when the guilty verdict was delivered in court.

Mrs Prout's family, including her brother Richard Wakefield, burst into tears after the jury returned a majority verdict of 10 to one.

Mr Wakefield has called for Prout to reveal where he dumped his sister's body.

Outside court, he said: "Nothing will bring Kate back to us, but we are pleased that justice has been done.

"It is a big relief that the trial has ended with this verdict and this will go some way towards allowing us to move forward.

"We would, however, appeal to Adrian to tell us what happened to Kate and where she is because we would like to lay her to rest and say our goodbyes."
