£30m Heroin Haul
Three men have been sentenced at Kingston Crown Court to a total of 55.5 years in jail for their roles in a £30m drugs haul.
Harminder Chana, 32, of Upton Lane, E6 was found guilty of conspiracy to supply heroin on 25 June 2009 at Kingston Crown Court. He was sentenced to 17 years in prison.
Atif Khan, 35, of BrixhamGardens, Ilford pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply heroin on 4 September 2008 at Kingston Crown Court. He was sentenced to 15.5 years in prison.
Abdul Matalib Shammin, 30, a businessman of CavendishGardens, Ilford was found guilty of conspiracy to supply heroin on 15 December 2009 at Kingston Crown Court. He was sentenced to 23 years in prison.
A fourth member of the gang has already been sentenced at an earlier hearing.
Patrick Kuster, 37, of NFA, a Dutch national was found guilty of conspiracy to supply heroin on 24 June 2009 at Kingston Crown Court.
He was sentenced to 26 years in prison at an earlier hearing at Kingston Crown Court on the 4 September 2009.
In total, the gang received a total of 81.5 years in jail.
Detective Inspector Marion Ryan, from the Met's Central Task Force, said: "This is the biggest heroin seizure we know of by any UK police force.
"This gang had a flagrant disregard for law, blatantly transporting these dangerous drugs in the back of their cars.
"The Met will not tolerate the use and supply of class A drugs and we continue to tackle any organised criminal networks involved in this highly illegal activity."

A woman from Bridlington has pleaded not guilty to causing the death of her sister in a car collision. Rosie-Ann Stone, 20, to a charge of causing the death of Jennie Stone by careless driving at Hull Crown Court today. Stone was prosecuted after her sister's car struck a tree on the A165. She died of fatal head injuries.
