Sentencing Over Terror Bid
Three Muslim men have been jailed over a foiled plot to blow up transatlantic flights.
Four other men have already been convicted of conspiring to bomb passenger jets flying out of Heathrow, among them, ring leader Abdullah Ahmed Ali.
He was sentenced to a minimum of 40 years last September.
British born Adam Khatib, 23, was found guilty of planning the murder bid with the men and today jailed for life. He will serve a minimum term of 18 years.
Nabeel Hussain, 25, of Chingford, was found guilty of a terrorist offence and sentenced to eight years.
He had met Ali twice and possessed a number of items including a will, mobile phones and a £25,000 loan application.
Mohammed Shamim Uddin, 39, of Stoke Newington, was found guilty of possessing information likely to be useful to terrorists and will be sent to prison for 15 months. He was found not guilty of two other terrorist charges.
Senior anti-terror officer John McDowall said Khatib was a "footsoldier" to Ali and became "actively involved" in a conspiracy to attack innocent members of the public.
He said Hussain had "contemplated losing his life in an act of martyrdom", having made a will expressing a willingness to die a violent death.
The three men made no comment during police interviews.
