Bristol Assault Baby Dies

It has emerged today that a baby boy has died in hospital in Bristol - three weeks after his father was charged with injuring him.

The victim, three-month-old Kodi Martin suffered serious head injuries in an incident in Plymouth on November 1.

Police officers said that he died yesterday at Bristol Children's Hospital.

His father, Graeme Draper, 25, was arrested on the same day as the incident in St Judes and then charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He has appeared at Plymouth Magistrates' Court and will appear before a Crown Court in February.

Devon and Cornwall Police say a decision on fresh charges will be made when the evidence has been reviewed and also that a post mortem will be held later this week.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Costa Nassaris said: "Members of Kodi's family were with him when he passed away and we would like to offer our sympathies at this terrible time.

"His death will be the focus of a joint investigation involving the major investigation team and the child abuse investigation team, who will work in partnership with children's services and other agencies."
