Jail For Newcastle Drugs Dealer

A Newcastle man has been jailed for seven years after a significant amount of drugs were found in his home.

Norman Leslie Morgan, 45, of Deanham Gardens, Fenham, appeared at Newcastle Crown Court for sentencing on 15 October after pleading guilty to supplying drugs in the city.

He was stopped by uniform officers on patrol on the afternoon of 9 June this year in the West End of the city.

The officers found a bag of cannabis leaf during a search of his LDV panel van.

As a result of the drug seizure, officers attended Morgan's house and recovered a significant quantity of assorted drugs, including around 35kg of amphetamine, as well as cocaine.

Superintendent Jo Farrell, Newcastle Area Command, said: "This sentence should act as a warning to others that anyone involved in this sort of activity can expect to be punished appropriately."
