Sailor Saved
Lifeboat crews from Somerset have rescued a yacht from the Bristol Channel after its sails were ripped in high winds. Coastguards were alerted on Sunday morning by a dog walker who said he could see a yacht drifting out to sea, with torn sails flapping in the wind. Burnham lifeboat crews found the lone sailor struggling with his vessel as he headed to Penarth from Falmouth and the ketch, from Falmouth, was towed to safety.
Hanging 'Accidential'
Detectives believe that a boy's death at the weekend appeared to be a "tragic accident", after the 10-year-old was pronounced dead after being found hanging in woods. Cleveland Police said the victim was found in Hutton Woods in Guisborough, Teesside, on Saturday evening and was taken to James Cook University Hospital. A post mortem examination found that the boy, who has not been named by police, died from hanging. Detective Constable Dave Thomas, of Redcar CID, said: "This is an absolute tragedy. Many youngsters go out into woodland and swing from ropes that have been hanging from trees. Unfortunately, on this occasion it would appear that the boy got himself tangled and sadly died as a result of this. It is a tragic accident and our thoughts are with his family."
