Father In 'Honour Killing' Trial Collapses
The man who is on trial for the alleged "honour killing" of his teenage daughter has collapsed at the Old Bailey.
Mehmet Goren, 49, who is on trial for the murder of his 15-year-old daughter Tulay, is understood to have collapsed as wife Hanim Goren began giving evidence as a prosecution witness.
According to reports, Mr Goren appeared to suffer a fit.
The judge suspended the case temporarily after Mr Goren fell ill.
Mr Goren, of Navestock Crescent, Woodford Green, north London, has denied murdering Tulay, who disappeared in January 1999. Her body has never been found.
The court heard that Tulay, a Kurdish Turk, was killed over her relationship with Halil Unal, who is from a different Islamic sect.
Tulay's uncles - Cuma Goren, 42, of Evesham Avenue, Walthamstow, east London and Ali Goren, 55, of Brettenham Road, Walthamstow, are also on trial for her murder. They have also denied the charge.
All three have also pleaded not guilty to a charge of conspiracy to murder Mr Unal between May 1998 and February 1999.
