Guilty Pleas In Nursery Sex Abuse Case
A nursery worker and two co-defendants have pleaded guilty to a number of child sex offences, described as "horrific" by police.
At Bristol Crown Court, Vanessa George, from Plymouth, Angela Allen, from Nottingham and Colin Blanchard from Rochdale - all aged 39 - were charged with 37 counts of sexual assault and distributing indecent images of children.
George, who worked at Little Ted's nursery in Plymouth, admitted seven charges of sexual abuse and six charges of making and distributing indecent images of children.
She also pleaded not guilty to one charge of sexual assault, which the judge ordered to lie on file.
Allen, pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual assault and one count of distributing an indecent image, while Rochdale admitted two charges of sexual assault and 17 charges of distributing indecent images of children.
All three were arrested in June, following a police investigation. It is understood that the trio, who had never met face-to-face before their appearance in court today, had met on social networking website Facebook. They had exchanged images via email and text messages.
It is understood that the abuse began in September last year.
Blanchard was arrested on June 6 this year, after a colleague found obscene images on a work computer.
The two women were arrested following examination of Blanchard's laptop.
Police are continuing to try to identify the victims of the abuse at Little Ted's nursery.
Blanchard, George and Allen are all due to be sentenced next month.
