Child Sex Abuser Jailed Decades On
A Manchester pensioner has been jailed for sexually abusing two girls more than 30 years ago.
Keith Jackson, 69, of Hatro Court, Stretford Road, Urmston, was sentenced to 18 months in prison at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on Tuesday.
He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offender's Register for 10 years and disqualified from working with children and vulnerable adults
Jackson was found guilty of four counts of sexual assault on girls under the age of 13 and one count of gross indecency following an eight-day trial in August.
All of Jackson's offences date from between 1973 and 1980.
His first victim was aged just seven when she staying at Jackson's flat in Stretford.
The girl was sharing a bed with him and woke in the night to find him indecently assaulting her.
She told nobody of what he had subjected her to at the time.
Jackson's second victim was aged between eight and 12 when she visited his flat. He encouraged her to lie down in the bedroom on a number of occasions and would sexually assault her.
His crimes only came to light when an anonymous letter was sent to police.
Detective Constable Nicola Graham, based at the Child Abuse Investigation Unit at Altrincham Police Station, said: "These little girls should have been able to trust Jackson to look after them while they were with him but he abused them for his own sick gratification.
"I am pleased to see that justice has been done and he got what he deserved despite his age.
"I hope this gives his victims some peace of mind and gives other victims of historic sex abuse the confidence to come forward - no matter how many years have passed, we take all reports of this nature extremely seriously."
