Airport Emergency Alert
Fire and ambulance crews were alerted yesterday afternoon after reports of a problem with a flight into Belfast.
The passengers were given a scare when smoke was spotted coming from underneath the plane which had just arrived from Murcia in the South of Spain.
However, the passengers disembarked normally and safely at Belfast International Airport after the emergency services were put on standby as it taxied in.
The incident unfolded around lunchtime on Sunday as the Jet2 flight was coming to a standstill at Belfast International Airport.
Smoke was seen coming from a tyre as the plane moved toward the terminal for passengers to disembark.
A full emergency was declared with fire engines and ambulances on stand-by.
The Boeing craft came to a safe halt shortly before 2pm and no one was injured.
A Jet2 spokesman said there was "absolutely no risk" to any of the passengers on board the plane.
Meanwhile, on Monday, a British Airways from London to the US has been forced to make an emergency landing at Chicago's O'Hare airport.
BA195 from London's Heathrow to Houston was diverted after "what was thought to be a burning smell" was detected.
The smell was due to a fault with one of the television screens used for in-flight entertainment which had since been repaired.
BA also said that none of the 90 passengers and 15 crew members were in danger.
