Murder Accused Remanded
A 20-year-old man, Thomas Valliday, has been in court today charged with the murder of Frank McGreevy, 51, a former republican prisoner, who had been on a life support machine following Saturday's attack in his Ross Street home in west Belfast. He died on Tuesday. Valliday was remanded in custody until next month.
Parole Crackdown
A crackdown on prisoners who abscond from prison while on parole has followed the murder of a west Belfast man at the weekend. On Tuesday police arrested 38-year-old drug dealer and returned him to Magilligan prison in Co Derry.

Despite controversy over her later comments on the devolution of justice and policing in Northern Ireland, and its possible impact on an anticipated visit to the Irish Republic by the Queen, President Mary McAleese's sixth meeting with the sovereign has been described in glowing terms. The Aras an Uachtarain official website relates today that the President met "Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II" at Hillsborough Castle and held a private 20-minute meeting as part of a 'very special day for Anglo-Irish relationships'. The web news site also said that Dr Martin McAleese and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh were also in attendance at the meeting.

Eddie O'Sullivan has resigned as coach of Ireland after a disastrous World Cup and disappointing Six Nations campaign. The 49-year-old led the Irish to three Triple Crowns during his six-year reign but his critics felt he did not get the best out of a richly-talented team.

There would have been no need for a Bloody Sunday Inquiry if the British Government had admitted its 'guilt' over the role of paratroopers in the deaths of 14 civilians in Londonderry, NI Executive Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness said yesterday.

The Northern Irish man was speaking with his co-host Isabel Webster as they presented the show this morning, 07 June. After the programme returned following an ad break, the pair seemed to be unaware the cameras were back on them.

Russian Spies 'Used Irish Passports'
It has emerged that at least one false Irish passport was used by a Russian espionage ring allegedly operating in the US. The passport is said to have been passed to a Richard Murphy, who is among 11 people currently under trail in Manhattan Federal court, charged with being a Russian spy.
