PSNI On Alert After Warning By Real IRA
A renewed warning by the Real IRA has placed the PSNI “on their guard”, according to a Police Federation Spokesman.
After speaking to the Sunday Tribune, a spokesperson for the republican dissident movement, the Real IRA, told of plans for a new offensive. However, the police federation responded, saying: "We are very aware of this new and very serious threat from dissident republicans and urge all police officers to be on their guard."
The paramilitary group has said members of the PSNI will be prime targets in its new campaign, and warned that local businesses will be targeted using incendiary devices.
During the interview with the Sunday Tribune, the Real IRA spokesperson also warned of possible attacks in Britain, they said: “We will attack Britain where and when we see fit. The law of averages suggests the longer a target hasn't been hit, then the more likely it is to be attacked."
The group plans to continue its campaign in order to bring back a military presence to Northern Ireland in order to: “shatter the facade that the British presence has gone and normality reigns.”
The Real IRA was officially held responsible for the Omagh bomb atrocity in 1998 when 29 people were killed, and up to 300 were injured.

Attempted Carjacking In West Belfast
Police are investigating an attempted carjacking in west Belfast on Tuesday, November 19th. At around 5:30pm, a man entered a parked car at Hillhead Court and attempted to steal it. A woman passenger was assaulted when she resisted the man's demands. The suspect, described as a man in his 20s wearing all black, fled the scene on foot.

Man Arrested In Connection With Omagh Bombing
A man has been arrested in connection with the 1998 Omagh bombing. Police arrested the man in Newry area, and say he is being held and questioned in Antrim. Twenty-nine people were killed in the Real IRA attack of 15 August 1998. The bombing has been described as the single worst atrocity in over 30 years of violence.

Omagh Bomb Men Seek To Overturn Ruling
Two men held responsible for the Omagh bombing in 1998 are seeking to have the ruling overturned by the European Court of Human Rights. Jailed Real IRA leader Michael McKevitt and Liam Campbell are to challenge the ruling, due reportedly to their lawyers’ inability to cross-examine an FBI spy whose evidence was central to the case against them.
