Teenage Girl Charged Over Greengrocer Killing

A 15-year-old girl has been charged in connection with the killing of greengrocer Harry Holland in west Belfast earlier this week.

She has been charged with affray and assault occassioning actual bodily harm and is due to appear in court later on Friday.

Police are continuing to question two 17-year-old boys in connection with the killing at Antrim Serious Crime unit. Another 15-year-old girl was released without charge on Thursday.

Hundreds of people attended a vigil in west Belfast on Thursday night for the 65-year-old who was stabbed in the head with a screwdriver near his home in Norfolk Drive as he tried to prevent his delivery van from being stolen on Tuesday night.

He was on a life support machine in hospital, but died on Wednesday night.

Mr Holland's daughter Sarah told the vigil on Thursday evening that her father's murder had ripped the heart of her family out. She said: "We're all devastated but we're finding a lot of comfort in the support we're getting from our neighbours and our friends."

£17m To Support Pensioners Affected By Winter Fuel Payment Changes
Communities Minister Gordon Lyons has announced a £17 million fund to support pensioners who have lost eligibility for the Winter Fuel Payment due to recent UK government changes. The one-off £100 payment will be automatically issued to an estimated 250,000 pensioners in around 170,000 households before the end of March 2025.
