Plans For £50m City Hotel Unveiled
Proposals for a new hotel in the heart of Belfast city centre have been submitted to the planning service.
The 26-storey £50m scheme, brought forward by developer Sun Explorer would be built in the Castle Street/King Street area.
Featuring 144 services apartments, the developer said the Vetro building would also boast leisure and conference facilities.
Regeneration experts have said the development would bring a much-needed dimension to the western side of the city.
Architect Colin Conn designed the striking glass fronted plans, which could take two years to build.
West Belfast MP Gerry Adams welcomed the hotel proposals, and suggested - if the scheme is eventually approved - it could prove a vital part of economic transformation.
Two new apartment blocks have been built on King Street in recent years.
