Four injured during stone attacks on buses
Four people have been injured during a day of attacks on Northern Ireland’s public bus services.
One man was hit on the arm by a brick thrown through the window of a bus that was travelling along Gray’s Lane, near the Shore Road around 5pm. Police, helped by members of the public, subsequently arrested a 16-year-old girl, a 14-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man on suspicion of criminal damage and assault but later released them pending a report.
Earlier on Tuesday around 4.45pm two other buses and a car had their windows broken by stones in Donegall Park Avenue, injuring a driver and passenger.
Later on Tuesday around 6.50pm, a bus travelling along the Belsteele Road, near Twinbrook had one of its windows smashed.
A Translink official condemned the attacks. “We provide a public service for all sections of the community. We would like to call on the support of local church, community and political leaders to try and ensure these attacks end before someone gets seriously injured.”
The police said they do not know if the incidents are connected but appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
