New Editor For Belfast Telegraph
The Belfast Telegraph has appointed Mike Gilson as the new editor.
Mr Gilson, 46, who was previously editor of the Scotsman in Edinburgh, takes over from Martin Lindsay, who retired last week after four years as the Telegraph's editor.
Mr Gilson was editor of the Scotsman for two-and-a-half years before resigning earlier this year. He had previously edited The News in Portsmouth and the Peterborough Evening Telegraph and also held senior management positions at Cardiff's Western Mail and the Hull Daily Mail.
Mr Gilson has won awards for circulation growth, community reporting and editorial campaigns. The News was named as the Newspaper Society's Campaigning Newspaper of the Year, while he was editor, while last year, the Scotsman won six awards at the Scottish Press Awards, including Campaign, Scoop and Journalist of the Year.
Mr Gilson has also been a member of the Press Complaints Commission's Code Committee since 2004 and has held other senior advisory positions within newspaper groups.

Over £1m Secured For Early Years Fund
Over £1 million in funding has been secured for the Early Years Fund. The Fund, which supports 153 early years organisations across Northern Ireland, will use the funding to ensure current services continue until March 2016. Education Minister John O'Dowd confirmed £1.1m in funding.

Ireland's Saturday Night To Cease Publication
Northern Ireland's sports newspaper, Ireland's Saturday Night (ISN), is to end publication after 114 years. The newspaper, owned by the Belfast Telegraph, has reported a drop in sales and the impact of the credit-crunch has forced the group to cease the title. The final edition will be printed on 26 July.

Michaela McAreavey Family To Sue Mauritian Newspaper For Damages
The family of Tyrone woman Michaela McAreavey, who was murdered in Mauritius, has begun a civil case against a Mauritian newspaper which published images of her dead body. The 27-year-old was killed at the Legends Hotel in January 2011 while she was on honeymoon with her husband John.
