Mystery Over Shock Body Find
There's no news yet on the identity of a body found in a leafy Co Antrim suburb yesterday.
Police have appealed for help in identifying a man whose remains were found in a derelict building on the Jordanstown Road in Newtownabbey.
Children exploring the vacant property made the shock find at about 10pm on Tuesday at the site of a former school.
The grisly find was only made public yesterday when the PSNI issued an appeal for information to help identify the deceased.
A spokesperson said the body was found by a group of children at the building and said that the man was wearing a black leather jacket and jeans and had close cropped-hair.
They said it is not yet clear how the man died, but that a post mortem is due to be carried out today to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
His body was removed from the vacant building by forensic officers yesterday afternoon.
The Jordanstown area is particularly upmarket and, apart from commuter traffic to the nearby University of Ulster and the local NIR railway station, is normally quiet.
The site is largely secluded from the road and neighbouring properties by trees.
Speaking last night, Newtownabbey's Ulster Unionist Mayor John Scott said details surrounding the tragic incident were scant.
"We don't know how this has happened, or even what has happened yet," he said, noting that the discovery will mean sad news for some family.
The PSNI has asked anyone with information to contact them on 0845 600 8000.

Post-mortem due on Newtownabbey body
A post-mortem examination is due to be carried today on the body of a man found in Newtownabbey yesterday morning. The body was discovered by a council workman close to a shelter in the middle of Carnmoney Cemetery East at around 8am yesterday morning.

Teenage Woman Held Over Newry Death
A 19-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a fatal assault on a Polish man in Newry. The development came this morning just a day after Marek Muszynski, 40, from Sandy Street in the Co Down city, was found dead in a laneway located to the rear of the Newry Leisure Centre.
