Craigavon Attack Probed
A local politician has roundly condemned those behind an assault and robbery in Co Armagh.
The victims - two men - were beaten and robbed by an armed gang who broke into a house in Craigavon.
Police have asked for anyone with information to contact them after three masked men got into the house at Old Fort Lodge in the Moyraverty area at around 10.30pm last night (Wednesday).
The gang, who were armed with a gun and a sharp metal implement, assaulted the two men and stole money, a mobile phone and a gold bracelet.
The SDLP Upper Bann MLA Dolores Kelly (pictured) has condemned the incident: "How anybody can justify robbing people at all never mind using totally unnecessary force and intimidation is beyond me.
"Unfortunately, this type of incident is has happened before and these criminal gangs think they have the right to carry out these attacks with impunity.
"This type of crime is a worry and our justice system needs to take a strong line with those who think it’s acceptable to rob people with weapons," she continued.
"I hope the victims are able to put this trauma behind them and I sincerely hope those responsible are brought to book and made a lesson of in the courts.
"I urge anybody with information surrounding the identity of these gangs to pass it to the police immediately."
