Local recruitment agency ‘commended’ for excellence

Aptus Personnel, which has a branch in Pottingers Entry, Belfast, has taken the runner-up award in a prestigious industry scheme only after its first year of operation.

The company was commended in the Best Temporary Recruitment Agency category of the ‘Professional Recruiter’ Awards for Excellence 2002.

The agency, which was formerly part of Initial Personnel Services, was formed in April 2001 following a MBO from Rentokil Initial. It is now one of the UK’s largest independent recruiters, with 41 branches nationwide employing 260 staff and finding work for more than 17,000 temporary workers every year.

The judging panel, which included representatives from leading companies, agencies and the trade press, was impressed by Aptus’s achievements over its first year. The agency’s submission showed how these were the result of providing a quality service rather than just ‘bodies’.

“All our temps receive sector-specific training, providing them with additional skills and ensuring that they are productive as soon as they arrive at the client’s site,” says branch manager Lee Turkington. “More than half go on to gain a permanent job through us.”
