CIT Robbery Fails
A man has been arrested and two others are being sought after a failed robbery bid on a Cash-in-Transit delivery to an ATM in Co Antrim.
It happened this morning when a security guard was knocked to the ground and his dye-protected cash box snatched during the assault in Lisburn.
The man escaped with a substantial sum of cash after the attack on the guard on the Belsize Road around 9am on Thursday.
Although he made off with the cash box containing a substantial sum of money - likely to be as much as £40,000 - a man in 30s was later arrested after police stopped a white van on the Barnfield Road.
He is currently assisting detectives with their enquiries into the incident.
A similar vehicle had been seen near the incident and the police were on the alert for such a van and very quickly afterwards were able to make an arrest.
They were also able to recover the cash box - with the money still inside.
Police have appealed for anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
They are keen to speak to two other men thought to be involved.
One is described as being in his 50s, with a shaved head and a moustache. He is said to be about 5'6" tall. There are no further details on the other man.

Industry urges NI to ‘play safe’ with cash cards
Cash machine users were today advised to keep playing safe when making cash withdrawals, despite fraudulent cash withdrawals in Northern Ireland falling by 8% to £368,000 over the past year. However, despite a fall in Northern Ireland figures the rest of the UK saw an average rise of 85% in fraudulent cash withdrawals over the same period.

Police Appeal After Man Armed With Knife Steals Till From Shop In Ballymena
Police are appealing for information after a man, armed with a knife, stole a cash register from a shop in Ballymena. The incident occurred at premises on Queen Street at around 6.30am on Monday, 11 September. the suspect is described as being approximately 6ft in height and had his face covered with a dark balaclava.

Detectives in north Belfast are appealing for information following two separate robberies on Tuesday. In the first incident at around 12 noon a security guard was assaulted as he delivered a cash box to a bank on the Shankill Road.

Security van robbed in County Down
Detectives in County Down have appealed for information following the robbery of a cash in transit van earlier today. The incident happened at around 10.30am, when a member of security staff who was making a delivery to an address in the Irish Street area of Downpatrick, was approached by a man who demanded that he hand over a cash box.
