Derry School Attack Condemned
A Foyle MLA has condemned the burning of a school shed at Cairnhill Primary School in Londonderry.
The SDLP's Mary Bradley (pictured here) said: "This is a disgraceful attack on a school, one of the cornerstones of our community.
"Every child in this community has a right to an education and any attack on any school is an attack against the community.
"I condemn this unreservedly. The money now needed to replace or fix this shed will take more much needed funds away from the education sector in Cairnhill and that is totally inexcusable.
"I urge anybody with information to pass it to the police. Thankfully nobody was injured but this does not excuse the actions of those involved," she said.
Police in Derry said they were keen to speak to a number of youths seen in the area at the time, or anyone who could identify them.
They have also asked for people living close to schools to keep an eye on the properties during the summer months and report any suspicious incidents.
Last night's attack in the North West comes after a series of school-based incidents in the greater Belfast and Newtownabbey areas over the last weeks, culminating in the destruction of Whitehouse Primary School after a malicious blaze.
