C&C to recycle Belfast bottling plant?
The Irish soft drinks maker Cantrell&Cochrane look set to breathe life again into their old site in Castlereagh which was gutted last year by fire.
Over 300 people were employed by the drinks company at their east Belfast plant before the fire swept through their premises in September 2001.
But it has been reported that C&C are now preparing to replace, modernise and update its production capacity in Northern Ireland.
The company which plans to float on the London Stock Market this summer also plans, it is thought to inject £10 million into renewing their Belfast operation.
It is yet unclear however how many will be employed when the factory becomes operational, and if indeed any original employees will be brought back.
The company has grown rapidly in recent years and has a turnover of €670 million and employs 2,000 people at plants in Clonmel, Cork, Dublin, Belfast, Newcastlewest and Canale.
The group's main operating subsidiaries are Bulmers Limited, Ballygowan, Tayto, Grants of Ireland, Barbero, C&C Ireland, C&C Wholesale, C&C (Belfast), C&C International and Findlater (Wine Merchants).
