Ormeau Is Recommended For Stadium
Ormeau Park has been recommended as the site for the new NI multi-sports stadium.
The site was considered alongside the Blanchflower stadium at Sydenham and the Maysfield Leisure centre site as part of a £100,000 consultation funded by Belfast City Council.
Speaking to the BBC Northern Ireland, the chairman of the council's parks and leisure committee, Councillor Bob Stoker, (pictured) said Ormeau Park was not an automatic choice.
He said: "My position would be that is the best choice in terms of geographical location, economic benefit, transport, location to the city centre.
"It has everything going for it but from the political point of view it is not a vote winner amongst representatives from that particular part of the city."
