Teenage Woman Held Over Newry Death

A 19-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a fatal assault on a Polish man in Newry.

The development came this morning just a day after Marek Muszynski, 40, from Sandy Street in the Co Down city, was found dead in a laneway located to the rear of the Newry Leisure Centre.

His battered body was discovered at around half-past midnight, early on Tuesday morning.

Two men arrested yesterday are still being questioned by the PSNI.

The body was found lying in the laneway off Upper Edward Street and it was said yesterday that the victim had been badly beaten.

Newry has a population of around 3,000 Polish people at present, although it is thought the deceased did not have any of his own family living in the Newry area.
