Newry Victim 'Severely Beaten'
The man whose body was discovered in Co Down early today had been seriously assaulted.
Detectives are investigating the shock find in a laneway in Newry.
The victim was discovered at Upper Edward Street shortly before 1am on Tuesday morning.
Newry's Mayor John Feehan, from the SDLP, told the BBC today that the victim is believed to have been aged in his 20s or 30s and may have been "severely beaten".
It appears the man was attacked as he walked along a pathway behind Newry's swimming pool.
There are as yet no details about the identity of the man, but it is expected that a post mortem will be carried out later today to establish the exact cause of death.
Police are trying to establish his identity and have also appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

Man Charged Over Banbridge Murder

The body of 55-year-old Richard Gerard Scullion was found at a property in the Millmount Court area on Monday, 09 July. Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

£250k Resurfacing Announced For Newry Road
A major £250,000 road resurfacing scheme has been announced for the A25 Newry Road. The works will comprise of approximately 0.65km of carriageway resurfacing of the A25 Newry Road through Camlough village, from south of the U1583, known as Hall Road, to just beyond C217 Chapel Road roundabout.

Security alert in County Down
There is a security alert in County Down. Army Technical Officers were tasked to the scene at the B&Q store on the Armagh Road in Newry, shortly after 2pm today, after receiving reports of a suspicious device being discovered. As a precautionary measure, police have asked all keyholders in the Newry area to check their premises.
