BIC Systems completes project for NI Housing Executive

BIC Systems, a leading technology solutions provider in Ireland and the UK, has just completed a major automation and workflow project for the Housing Executive, Northern Ireland’s Regional Housing Authority.

The project was designed to upgrade the Housing Executive’s technology systems, and replaces the existing legacy applications and messaging systems with a fully functional office automation and workflow system.

The project reflects the Housing Executive's commitment to overhaul its IT systems, replacing the digital VAX - based messaging system and 'green screen' legacy applications which had been a central component of the Housing Executive's technology infrastructure.

The system, installed throughout the Housing Executive, is intended to support a new generation of business applications, in line with their long-term business strategy. As part of the project, BIC Systems will provide on-going managed support services to the Northern Ireland Housing Executive over a five-year period.

Commenting on the project, Ed Vernon, Managing Director, BIC Systems, said: "This was a technically sophisticated design and implementation project. A real challenge was to deliver user uptake and acceptance of the system. I am pleased that this was successfully achieved by working in close partnership with the Housing Executive's technical and project management staff. It is the largest Groupware project of its kind in Northern Ireland."

BIC Systems designed the core server and Storage Area Network (SAN) systems and implemented suitable distributed infrastructure throughout the Housing Executive's local offices. The company designed and installed Microsoft systems to support the solution and were also required to design and deliver a customised training and support programme to ensure that all users were at ease with the system.

Founded in 1984, BIC has offices in Belfast and Dublin, and currently employs 200 people, delivering business advantage through technology and skills. (MB)
