Derry Man Shot On Own Doorstep

Detectives are working to establish a motive for the shooting of a Londonderry man yesterday.

He is recovering in hospital after being shot three times at his front door in the Florence Street area of the city at approximately 11.50pm on Sunday.

The 26-year-old victim was shot by one man as he answered a call at his door and afterwards, a police spokeswoman said the male sustained gunshot wounds to one of his legs and a foot. His injuries are not believed to life threatening.

However, a 23-year-old man remains critically ill with head injuries after being assaulted in west Belfast. over the weekend.

He was attacked at Vere Foster Walk in the Upper Springfield Road area shortly after 6am on Sunday.

Police responding to a call, found the man lying on the ground with head and facial injuries. It is understood he had been attacked with a broken bottle.

The police in Belfast are also trying to establish a motive for that attack.

Man Shot In County Down
A 28-year-old man has been shot in the leg in a gun attack in County Down. The man was getting out of his car at the Quays in Killyleagh at about 1.00am on Wednesday morning when a man approached him and shot him. The man is recovering in hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of Colin Horner
A 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Colin Horner in Bangor, Co Down. Mr Horner was fatally shot outside a supermarket in from of his young son on 28 May this year. The suspect has been taken to Musgrave police station to be questioned.

Man Shot Dead At Family Home In West Belfast
A man shot dead in West Belfast on Saturday 18 December has been named as 31-year-old Mark Hall. According to police, two gunmen approached Mr Hall's family home on Rodney Drive shortly after 4:30pm.

Police Appeal After Man Shot Dead In Bangor
Police are appealing for information following the murder of Colin Horner, who was shot in front of his three-year-old son at Sainbury's car park in Bangor on Sunday, 28 May. The boy was in the car at the time of the attack. It is understood Mr Horner, originally from Co Antrim, has loyalist links.
