Hundreds Of BA Staff Offer To Work Unpaid
British Airways has confirmed 7,000 of its staff have chosen to take voluntary pay cuts in attempts to save money.
Of those, 800 workers have volunteered to work for nothing for up to a month, while another 4,000 workers are taking unpaid leave for varying amounts of time.
The airline also said 1,400 people have volunteered to work part-time.
British AAirways said the move will save the airline £10 million.
BA had asked its staff to work for free for one month of the year as part of a cost-cutting measure.
Willie Walsh, BA's Chief Executive said: "This is a fantastic first response. I want to thank everyone who has volunteered to help us pull through this difficult period.
"This response clearly shows the significant difference individuals can make."
Mr Walsh has already agreed to work unpaid in the month of July, go without his month's salary of £61,000.
