Teenager attacked and man shot in Newtownabbey area

A 14-year-old boy was badly injured on Sunday after being viciously attacked by three masked men armed with baseball bats embedded with nails.

The teenage victim was walking past shops in the loyalist Monkstown Estate in Newtownabbey, County Antrim, when he was set upon and then savagely beaten by the gang. The boy is said to be recovering in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

Police said that they believed it was a paramilitary-style attack.

In another attack on a different part of the Monkstown Estate, a 21-year-old man was forced into a van by two masked men. He was then driven to Ards Drive where he was shot in both legs. He was taken to hospital where his condition was described as 'stable'.

Teenager Abducted And Attacked In Newtowabbey
A teenager has been injured after being abducted and attacked in Newtownabbey. The 14-year-old boy sustained bruising to his face and body during the assault which happened on the O'Neill Road on Saturday, 04 August, at around 9pm. Three men approached the victim and bundled him into the back of his car.

Two Men Charged After Teenager Attacked In L'Derry
Two men, aged 17 and 23, have been charged after a 16-year-old boy was assaulted in Co L'Derry. The attack happened in the Violet street area on Saturday, 16 December. The boy sustained injuries to his face and head and is currently in intensive care. A 22-year-old man also suffered a suspected broken nose.

Man Attacked During Aggravated Burglary In South Belfast
A number of masked men attacked a 24-year-old man during an aggravated burglary in south Belfast. The assault happened at a property in the Malfin Drive area at around 10.10pm on Wednesday, 07 September. One man has been arrested and is being questioned at Musgrave Police Station. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
