Woman Hit By Bus Dies
A female pensioner died yesterday after being hit by a bus in Co Down last Tuesday afternoon.
Margaret Paxton, 85, was injured in a road accident involving a Translink bus in Scarva Street, Banbridge.
According to a police spokesperson, her injuries had not initially been thought to be life-threatening. After the accident she was taken to the hospital, where her condition deteriorated and she died on Thursday morning.
Translink is helping PSNI with their enquiries, and Police appealed for any witnesses of the accident to come forward.
Meanwhile, an elderly woman was taken to hospital after being hit by a vehicle in Rathfriland.
Last April, a 50-year-old woman died after being struck by another Translink coach in Newry.

Translink Bus Strike 'Back On' From 17-23 May
The bus strike "is back on", the GMB Union has announced after their members rejected a revised pay offer. The union has said that drivers, cleaners and shunters across the company will walk out for seven days from 17 to 23 May 2022, "causing the entire bus network to grind to a halt".

Translink is urging women to find out more about a career as a bus driver. The firm is encouraging females to take part in 'Have A Go Days' to increase the numbers of women applying. Translink is currently recruiting for Metro, Glider and Ulsterbus drivers.

Belfast City Centre Bus Lane Scheme Criticised
The SDLP said it is "seriously concerned" after a city centre bus lane scheme in Belfast has left motorists confused. In Great Victoria street, one signpost contains two signs which have led to confusion, however motorists are still being fined.

Motorcyclist dies at scene of accident
A motorcyclist is reported to have died at the scene of a road traffic accident near Newcastle in County Down this morning. The motocyclist was involved in a collision with a coach carrying around 20 children to school in Ballynahinch. It is understood that neither the bus driver nor the children were injured in the crash.
