All-Ireland investment conference takes place in Belfast

The first all-Ireland investment conference of its type, has been held on Wednesday, April 24, at Belfast's Ramada Hotel.

The conference brought together leading venture capitalists, financial consultants and business advisors seeking information on private equity investment.

InterTradeIreland, who finalised the details of the private enterprise conference, arranged for top speakers to take part in the conference including Scott Malpass of Notre Dame Venture Capital Fund, Dr. Martin Naughton of InterTradeIreland and Glen Dimplex, and Dr. Chris Horn of Iona Technologies.

A number of entrepreneurs who have had recent experience of the venture capital market also spoke at the event which targeted an audience of senior participants from the venture capital and equity community In Ireland, both north and south.

The conference sought to promote best practice among participants in this industry sector by highlighting successful funding rounds and venture capital investments from the US and the island of Ireland.

£22.5M venture capital fund launched
A new £22.5 million venture capital fund for business development in Northern Ireland has been announced today. Belfast-based Crescent Capital has just completed raising investment for the new fund - known as Crescent Capital II - which will be the largest local source of venture capital available to companies in Northern Ireland.

£1.25m For Belfast Community Projects
20 community regeneration projects across Belfast have received funding totalling £1.25m from the City Council. The funding is part of £5m set aside for the Local Investment Fund (LIF). Just under £1.3m is earmarked each to the North, South, East and West of the city and a further £490,000 allocated for the Shankill area.
