Everest Conquered For UCF

Long-time Ulster Cancer Foundation supporters Lynne and Noel Hanna are on top of the world as they celebrate their successful summiting of Everest yesterday.

Lynne and Noel, (pictured) from Dromara, made history when they became the first married couple from Northern Ireland to reach the summit of Everest.

The couple are using their Everest climb to raise £150,000 for the Ulster Cancer Foundation's Personal Everest Project.

Lynne and Noel reached the summit at 12.26pm on Thursday, led by legendary Russian climber and guide Nicholay Cherhy.

They shared the summit – the highest point on the planet - with fellow climber, Canadian Patrick Singh and Russian guide, Maksim Bogatirev.

Joyce Savage, Head of Appeals & Marketing, Ulster Cancer Foundation said: "This is a tremendous achievement and we send our heartiest congratulations!

"We have been eagerly following their progress and we've been in regular contact with them as they charted every step of their climb for us."
