Body Recovered From Connswater
There has been an appeal for information after the shock discovery of a young man's body in east Belfast.
He was named this afternoon as missing Jamie Moreland, 15, from Newtownards, who left his home on Saturday evening to travel to a band parade in the city.
It is understood he was last seen at a house party in the area after the parade. The body was found in a Belfast park near George Best Belfast City Airport.
A local politician, Robin Newton the DUP MLA has appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
Mr Newton, (pictured) said whatever the circumstances the discovery of a body in the Connswater, Victoria Park, it is a tragedy that will bring much heartache to family and friends.
"That the body of a young male is taken from the river will raise all sorts of concerns until the full facts of the situation are known.
"I am calling for anyone who has the slightest scrap of information or who may have seen something to contact the PSNI," he said.
Police recovered the body from the Connswater River in Victoria Park on Tuesday.
Their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death is now under way and a post mortem was due to carried out on Wednesday.
Police have aked for witnesses who were in the Victoria Park/Sydenham area on Sunday morning between midnight and 1am to contact them.

New Belfast Hotel Plans Submitted
The Department of Environment has put forward an opinion to approve a new 130 bed hotel in Great Victoria Street Belfast. DOE planning officials will seek the views of Belfast City Council at a meeting later. If the proposal gets the go ahead, it will provide up to 60 jobs.

Boy 'Critical' After Being Hit By Car In Co Down
A five-year-old boy has been seriously injured after he was hit by a car in Co Down. The incident happened in the Malcolmson Park area of Magheralin at around 4.45pm on Thursday, 12 January. The boy is believed to be in a critical condition at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. The road has since been re-opened.

Renowned former sports editor of the Belfast Telegraph, Malcolm Brodie, has died. Mr Brodie began his career at the Portadown News, before moving to the Belfast Telegraph in 1943, where he worked for more than five decades. Brodie, who grew up in Scotland, was instrumental in establishing the paper’s sports department.
