Belfast Woman Escapes Petrol Bombing

An overnight petrol bomb attack on a house in east Belfast has left a 42-year-old woman shocked but otherwise unhurt.

Police officers dealt with a small fire at the house on Templemore Avenue at about 4.15am on Friday morning after a bottle filled with petrol was thrown at the door of the house.

A motive for the attack has not yet been established.

Meanwhile, investigations will begin today into the cause of a fire that damaged a Co Tyrone furniture store.

The furniture shop and a store at the rear of the building on Cookstown's Fountain Street were badly damaged in the blaze.

Five fire appliances from three towns joined in the effort to bring the blaze under control after firefighters, (such as those pictured here) were called to the incident at 7.30pm on Thursday.

Fire crews prevented the blaze from spreading to other buildings and there were no reports of injuries on Thursday night.

The store is believed to have suffered the worst of the fire damage, while the shop was extensively smoke damaged.
