M2 Races Toward Finish
The roadworks on the M2 motorway are to be completed well ahead of schedule.
As reported earlier this month on 4ni.co.uk, work is progressing very well.
The NI Regional Development Minister Conor Murphy has said that the extensive work, which began in the summer of 2007 - and was to have been completed on 28 August - is actually now due to finish at the end of this month.
The muti-million pound M2-widening measures and the replacement of bridges is a major redevelopment project which is set to dramatically reduce rush-hour congestion from the northern approach to Belfast.
The Minister, Conor Murphy, revealed the new completion date in a response to an Assembly question this week.
A spokesman for his Department of Regional Development added: "There remains outstanding works to be completed on the M2 before the traffic cones can be removed and the third lane opened to traffic.
"Some of this work is weather dependent and we will keep the position under continual review and will issue a press statement advising of any changes to the traffic lane arrangements when appropriate.
"Works are expected to be complete by next week."

M2 bus lane aims to alleviate traffic congestion
A fasttrack for city-bound buses has been created at the M2’s Sandyknowes on-slip, it has been announced today. The new facility will operate from 7.30am to 9.30am every weekday morning, helping bus passengers to avoid the peak traffic queues on the motorway and have a mainly congestion free journey into the city centre.

£410,000 funding has been announced for two resurfacing schemes in the Cookstown and Magherafelt areas Transport Minister Danny Kennedy made the announcement today. Refurbishment Work Completed At Conway Youth Centre
Refurbishment work has been completed at the Conway Youth Centre in the Greater Shankill area. Social Development Minister, Nelson McCausland has visited the new centre, where a total of £244,132 has been spent transforming the building.

Extra M2 Lane Opens For Testing
A new Belfast motorway lane has been temporarily opened today as testing takes place during the final phase of a major arterial infrastructure scheme. The development follows the recent opening of the newly constructed Collin and Longlands Bridges over the M2 motorway through Newtownabbey and into north Belfast.
