Carryduff Tesco Plans Revealed
Tesco has confirmed it will submit an application to build a new, modern supermarket on the Saintfield Road, beside Edgar Avenue in Carryduff. The retail giant said it would hold a public exhibition to display the plans.
Colin Hampsey, Tesco Corporate Affairs Manager, said: "From customer research we know that many people from Carryduff and the surrounding area are shopping with us in our others stores, namely Newtownbreda and Lisburn.
"Therefore, we have developed plans for a Tesco store in Carryduff which will provide people from the local area with improved choice and convenience for their food shopping."
Mr Hampsey said it was important to gain a local perspective on the plans, and the supermarket chain will therefore be holding an informal exhibition, which will be open to members of the public.
The exhibition will take place in the Lough Moss Leisure Centre, Hillsborough Road in Carryduff on Tuesday 21 April, prior to the proposals being given to the Planning Service.
"At a time of economic uncertainty, this proposed development represents an important and substantial multi-million pound investment in the area," said Mr Hampsey.
"It will also create local job opportunities and provide the people of Carryduff and the surrounding area with a new, state-of-the-art supermarket and a wider choice of affordable shopping."
