McAvoy Group open £1.5m factory expansion in Dungannon
Sir Reg Empey, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment, has official opened a new factory for The McAvoy Group, as part of a £1.5 million expansion by the firm.
The factory extends production facilities to 120,000 sq ft, and marks a key event in the 30th anniversary celebrations as the company marks the formation of the business in 1972.
The McAvoy Group, which designs and manufactures modular, timber-framed, steel-clad and steel-framed permanent and relocatable buildings, welcomed Sir Reg who said the expansion was an integral part of a major restructuring of operations to improve competitiveness.
Sir Reg said: “The McAvoy Group is a locally-owned business that is soundly based on innovation, enterprise and excellent customer services. By investing in capability to accelerate growth this business is increasing the skills base of the area and contributing to the overall wealth of the local community. This approach is also in tune with Invest NI’s strategy of promoting capability building."
Outlining the expansion, McAvoy Group Managing Director, Orla Corr said: “The new factory represents a £1.5 million investment in our continued growth, an expansion designed to consolidate our position as one of the most advanced and progressive manufacturers of modular/custom-built timber-framed and steel-framed buildings in the British Isles.
“The new factory reflects our strategy of continuous investment in products, people and in their working environment. It is enabling us to provide products faster and at a consistently high quality level for customers now demanding fast-track construction."
Orla Corr said the Group’s decision to focus on sales outside Northern Ireland, initially in the Republic of Ireland, had contributed to a 55% growth in turnover over the past four years. The expansion has already provided over 20 new jobs.
The Group operates two manufacturing divisions for modular buildings in Northern Ireland.
In addition, it rents relocatable buildings in Northern Ireland and in Great Britain.
The market in Great Britain is serviced through a subsidiary company in Oxford.
Clients for its rental units include the London Marathon and Henley Regatta.
