Derry Rail Line Closed After Body Discovered
There is continuing disruption on the railways today as the line remains closed between Londonderry and Coleraine after the shock discovery of a man's body near the track as it passes the picturesque Benone beach, (pictured), a few miles from Castlerock.
A post mortem examination is to be carried out later on the body which was discovered near the beach in County Londonderry on Tuesday. He was found by a member of the public at the entrance to a railway tunnel near Downhill beach.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
While a bus substitution is in operation around the Benone/Castlerock area, rail passengers using the Londonderry railway line are also being urged allow extra time for their journey as the line from Ballymena to Coleraine is closed until June 28.
This is to facilitate essential track relay work between Ballymena and Ballymoney.
Translink is calling on all passengers to ensure they are familiar with timetable changes during the closure period so that they can plan their journeys appropriately and to also check services before they travel.
