Third Person Faces PSNI Death Charges
As the investigation into the dissident republican murder of PSNI Constable Stephen Carroll continues, a third person has appeared in court in connection with the murder today.
The accused man, 21, is charged with withholding information about the shooting of the officer earlier this month and appeared at Lisburn Magistrates Court, where he was remanded in custody.
Reporting restrictions were imposed on the case, so that no further details can be published.
Constable Carroll was shot dead in Craigavon on March 9 as he and colleagues responded to a distress call. The Continuity IRA has claimed responsibility for the killing.
On Wednesday, former Sinn Fein councillor Brendan McConville was charged with the officer's murder.
A youth, aged 17, was the first person to be formally charged in relation to the incident earlier this week.
Constable Carroll's death came less than 48 hours after the murder of two soldiers outside Massereene Army barracks in Antrim.
No one has yet been charged with the murders of Sappers Patrick Azimkar and Mark Quinsey.
On Wednesday, former IRA prisoner Colin Duffy was re-arrested in connection with the double shooting only minutes after a High Court judge had ruled that his continuing detention was unlawful.
