Soccer Teen Dies
A weekend sporting event turned to tragedy on Saturday as a 16-year-old schoolboy suddenly collapsed and died.
The tragic incident happened during a football match at the weekend. Oisin McGuinness died following the game in Newry, on Saturday morning. The cause of his death has not been established, but his family have asked for donations to be made to Sads - the Sudden Adult Death Syndrome charity (Sads) - a heart condition charity.
Oisin was a fifth year pupil at Abbey Grammar CBS and was also a talented Gaelic footballer and hurler.
A tribute on the school website says simply: "Oising McGuinness, RIP, March 14".
Dermot McGovern, the principal of Abbey Grammar, said everyone was shocked to hear the news of his death.
"Oisin was playing soccer for a local club. Towards the end of the match, he collapsed and, unfortunately, died some time later," he told the BBC.
Remaining weekend games at the schoolboy's Newry Shamrocks Club were cancelled as a mark of respect.

Roads death toll rises after Co Antrim crash

Boy, 13, Critical After School Attack

Oisin McGrath is currently being treated at Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital. Third man charged over Tobermore murder
A third man has been charged in connection with the murder of a Scotsman in County Londonderry in the early hours of Saturday morning. Paul Eric Cecil Johnston, 20, from Park View, Castledawson, County Londonderry, replied "not guilty" when the charge was put to him. Yesterday, two other men appeared in court in connection with the killing.
