Further Talks On Dublin Bus Deal

Trade unions are holding further talks with Dublin Bus management on Friday to agree a deal and avert strike action by workers.

Driver's union Siptu said progress had been made following discussions yesterday at the Labour Relations Commission.

The new round of talks have since been arranged to deal with outstanding issues so a finalised deal can be forged.

The next draft will be put to the drivers next week.

The strike threat originated from plans by Dublin Bus to lay off 160 recently recruited staff members.

A deal on voluntary redundancies has instead been hammered out, and will be offered to 80 senior staff, with 80 probationary drivers being offered work from Fridays to Mondays.

Dublin Bus have also announced on Friday that due to the St Patrick’s Festival there will be a number of diversions in place.

The diversions will run for the week Tuesday 10th March to Tuesday 17th March. On St. Patrick's Day, a Sunday service will operate on all routes.
